Four invoice templates you can download and use straight away. Every total is a live formula, so the sheet recalculates when you change a quantity or a rate — these are working spreadsheets, not pictures of a table.
No sign-up, no email required, nothing watermarked.
For a business registered under GST. GSTIN for both parties, HSN or SAC code on every line, discount and taxable value per item, and a Supply type dropdown that switches the tax between CGST + SGST and IGST for you — set it to Intra-state or Inter-state and the totals follow. Getting that split wrong is the single most common mistake on an Indian invoice, and it is the one thing a static template normally cannot help you with.
The same GST handling, laid out for services rather than goods: SAC code instead of HSN, hours and a rate instead of quantity and unit price. SAC 998314 covers IT design and development, which is what most freelance developers and designers bill under.
For when you are not registered under GST, or the supply is exempt. There are no tax columns at all, because if you are not registered you should not be charging GST — a template with a tax box you might accidentally fill is worse than one without.
Most freelancers are below the registration threshold and need exactly this.
For quoting before the work happens. Same structure as the tax invoice, with a validity date instead of a due date, and a clear line stating it is not a tax invoice and no GST is payable on it.
If you invoice more than occasionally, the invoice generator is usually the better tool. It does the same maths, spells the amount in words for you — which Excel cannot do without macros — puts a UPI QR code on the invoice, and produces a finished PDF rather than a spreadsheet you still have to export.
The templates are here because sometimes you want a file you own, in a format your accountant already uses. Both are free, and neither asks for anything.
Yes. No sign-up, no email, no watermark and no limit on how many invoices you make with them. They are ordinary .xlsx files; download one and it is yours.
Yes. Taxable value, tax and line totals are formulas, and the GST template splits the tax into CGST and SGST or into IGST depending on the Supply type you choose. Change a quantity and every total updates.
Yes, use the bill of supply template. It has no tax columns, which is correct if you are not registered under GST, since you should not be charging GST in that case.
Filling one of these in every month? The GST invoice generator does the same job in the browser and hands you a finished PDF. More answers are on the FAQ page.
These notes are general guidance, not tax advice. Tax treatment depends on your registration status and the nature of the supply — confirm anything you are unsure about with your accountant.
